Finike
Finike is a little town of 10 000 inhabitants with a river flowing through its charming city center and park. An animated section of the town is the marina hosting up to 450 boats, next to the fishing harbour.
Finike is a dynamic and prosperous town which has not yet been invaded by mass tourism and has been able to maintain its authentic charm. The saturday market is the event of the week and is worth a visit by itself. Top

Arykanda and Elmali
30 minutes by car from L’ Orangeraie are the ruins of the Greek city of Arykanda, a marvelous site on the slopes of a mountain.
The baths, the stadium, the necropolis and the theatre are in remarkable conditions. You find perfect calm on this site which is far away from the tourist roads, and you will visit Arykanda almost privately. |

Further in the mountains is the city of Elmali with its old traditional houses made of wood and daub, and its remarkable mosque by the Ottoman architect Sinan.
You will need around half a day for these visits after which you can enjoy a pleasant lunch by a torrent. Top

Simena and the Kekova archipelago
The Kekova archipelago and the old village of Simena which used to be a pirate hideout in the middle ages are a part of the marvellous sites of this region.
The best way to discover them is by boat. A private one-day cruise leaves Finike early morning and reaches Kekova after a three-hour cruise. You spend a day in the archipelago’s numerous creeks, enjoy the glimpses on a sunken city, the Simena citadel, and its Lycian necropolis overlooking the archipelago... Lunch is served at Sami’s restaurant by the water. Top

Myra and St Nicholas’s church

At 45 minutes from Finike are the remains of Myra with its Lycian necropolis, a Greco-roman theatre, and one of the oldest Christian churches, the Byzantine church of St Nicholas who was bishop in this region during the third century. Top

Olympos, Adrasan and Chimera
One hour from Finike is the beautiful Olympos bay with its ancient remains of a Greco-roman city hidden in the bushes. An hour’s walk will lead you to the mythical site of Chimera with its “eternal” flames gushing out of the ground. Lunch can be enjoyed by the river of the neighbouring Adrasan beach. Top

Rambles
In Lycia, the sea and the mountain are never far away from each other. The Lycian coast thus offers great rambles from the Taurus Mountains to the creeks of the Mediterranean sea. Finike town is a stop point on the "Lycian Way", a hiking trail connecting Fethiye to Antalya. Top

Phaselis
Phaselis is an ancien town, first Phoenician, it became Lycian, then Greek, then Roman and finally Byzantine. Although the ancient remains, Roman road, theatre, aqueduct, are not impressive, they are spread between the pines by the sea and are absolutely charming. Lunch can be served at Ulupinar by a torrent on the way back. Top
